V-Hawks sweep RedHawks in Conference Tournament Opener
LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The V-Hawks hosted the Redhawks of Indiana Northwest on Tuesday night in the first round matchup of the CCAC Tournament. The V-Hawks defeated the Redhawks in straight sets, and they will move on to the CCAC Semifinal match against the Trinity Christian Trolls. The V-Hawks improve to 25-6 on the season while the Redhawks fall to 13-21 to finish their season.
The V-Hawks were led offensively by Sadie Treptow and Hailee Halverson. Treptow had 10 kills while Halverson added nine. Both hit over a 0.400 percentage. Defensively, Resse Germann picked up 15 digs while Jada Mitchell added six blocks at the net. Maddie Connor led the way in assists with 19, and she added one ace to tie the school record in career aces with 179.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The V-Hawks opened the first set with three straight points and two kills from Jada Mitchell. A pair of kills from Izzy Jahr and a kill from Hailee Halverson took the V-Hawks to an 8-6 lead. Down the stretch of the first set, the V-Hawks went on an 8-0 run with kills from Hailee Halverson and MaKena Ihle to take the 23-10 lead. The V-Hawks finished the first set on a Jada Mitchell kill from Jaden Polovina to win 25-11.
- Hailee Halverson earned the first kill of the second set for the V-Hawks. Sadie Treptow's two kills and an ace from Resse Germann helped the V-Hawks jump to an early 10-3 lead. The V-Hawks extended their lead on kills from Sadie Treptow and an ace from Mia Quist to go up 18-7 late in the set. The V-Hawks closed out set two on a 6-0 run with two kills from Casey Frankland and two blocks from Sadie Treptow and Jada Mitchell. The V-Hawks won set two 25-9.
- Jada Mitchell got the kill to open the third set for the V-Hawks. After some back and forth through the early part of the third set, the V-Hawks took off on a 7-0 run with a pair of kills from Hailee Halverson, and an ace from Maddie Connor. Three more points from the V-Hawks gave them the 17-8 lead. A kill from Aubrey Dorn brought the V-Hawks to a ten point lead at 21-11, and three kils in a row for Mia Quist finished the set 25-15, advancing the V-Hawks to the CCAC Semifinals.

The V-Hawks will return to the court on Thursday, November 13th to face off against the Trinity Christian Trolls. The match is the CCAC Semifinal Match and first serve is set for 6pm.
