V-Hawks Compete in First Outdoor Meet of Season
OSHKOSH, Wis. -- The V-Hawks returned to the outdoor track this weekend for their first competition of the outdoor season. Throughout the course of the day, several individuals shined in their performances on the track and on the field. A new school record was broken, and several V-Hawks finished in the top five in their events.
The day was highlighted by performances from sophomore Avery Poppe. Poppe set a new school record in the Javelin with a 37.46m throw. She took first place at the event, throwing nearly five meters further than the next competitior. Poppe also took second place in the long jump with a 5.48m jump.
Emily Ludwig also had a first place finish at the competition, running a 14.55s 100m hurdle race. Ludwig also took second in the Javelin with a 32.84m throw and she finished in fourth place on the pole vault with a 3.23m vault.
Izzy Keck finished in second place in the pole vault with a 3.38m vault, and Colin Adams finished in second place in the high jump with a 1.90m high jump. Other top finishers on the day were Rhianna Robinson with a fifth place finish in the triple jump (11.21m), Braylee Hyatt with a fifth place finish in the 100m (12.62s), and Elsbeth Stewart with a fourth place finish in the 200m (26.95s).
The women's 4x100m and 4x400m relays also impressed at the competition. The 4x400m relay consisting of Loganne Marks, Braylee Hyatt, Lainey Teynor, and Avery Poppe finished with a time of 4:06.99 for first place. The 4x100m race consisting of Loganne Marks, Avery Poppe, Braylee Hyatt, and Pearla Teko-Folly finished in second place with a time of 48.22s.

The V-Hawks will be in La Crosse this weekend at the Phil Esten Challenge hosted by UW-La Crosse. The competitions will take place on Friday, April 17th and Saturday, April 18th.
