V-Hawks Fall to RedHawks on the Road

GARY, Ind. -- The V-Hawks traveled to Gary, Indiana on Tuesday to face off in their third CCAC match of the season. Through two halves, the V-Hawks came up short, falling to the RedHawks 72-66. The V-Hawks largely struggled offensively, aside from Colin Adams' 29 points. The V-Hawks fall to 2-6 overall and 0-3 in CCAC play, while the RedHawks improve to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the CCAC. 

Offensively, the V-Hawks were led by an impressive performance from Colin Adams. Adams put up 29 points, going 10-18 from the field and 5-6 from the three. He went 4-4 from the free throw line. He also added two assists. Defensively, the V-Hawks were led by Colin Adams as well with eight rebounds. Treyton Fletcher added seven. Overall, the V-Hawks grabbed 23 rebounds while the RedHawks picked up 27. The V-Hawks got out-shot by the RedHawks from the three point and the field. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The V-Hawks jumped to an early 8-3 lead with scores from Colin Adams, Treyton Fletcher, and Kole Johnson
  • Jonah Ogunsanya extended the lead for the V-Hawks at 16-9. 
  • A Carson Koepnick three pointer extended the lead again to 19-10. 
  • Jack Hennessy earned three more to go up 22-13. 
  • Colin Adams earned two more for the V-Hawks to extend the lead to 11 points. 
  • The RedHawks responded with an 11-0 run to tie it at 26. 
  • Colin Adams added five points to hold the lead. 
  • Brayden Crubel picked up two to give the V-Hawks a 33-30 lead. 
  • A late-half three by Colin Adams gave the V-Hawks the 36-35 lead going into halftime.
  • Landon Thousand scored three right away in the second half for the V-Hawks. 
  • Scoring from Jonah Ogunsanya extended the lead to seven at 47-40. 
  • The RedHawks fought back to 49-49, but a Jack Hennessy layup kept the V-Hawk lead. 
  • Colin Adams scored five points for the V-Hawks. 
  • Jonah Ogunsanya added a layup to hold a 58-55 lead for the V-Hawks. 
  • The game was tied at 62-62 with four minutes remaining. 
  • The RedHawks went on a 10-4 run to close the game, defeating the V-Hawks 72-66.

The V-Hawks will host the Jaguars of Governors State this weekend on Saturday, December 6th. Tip off is set for 3pm following the women's game.
