V-Hawks fall to Raiders on the Road

ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- The V-Hawks traveled to Orange City to face off against the Raiders of Northwestern on Saturday afternoon. Through 40 minutes of play, the V-Hawks fell to the Raiders 99-70, falling to a 2-2 overall record. The Raiders improve to 5-0 on the season. 

Offensively, the V-Hawks were led off the bench by Jonah Ogunsanya. His 18 points propelled the V-Hawks, shooting at 66% from the three and 75% from the field. Colin Adams added offensively as well with 13 points, shooting 5-15 from the field. Defensively, Colin Adams led with seven rebounds, followed closely by Treyton Fletcher's five rebounds. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Treyton Fletcher scored first for the V-Hawks on a layup. The V-Hawks grabbed the lead at 6-4, but the Raiders responded with 14 unanswered points to go up 18-6. The V-Hawks attempted to claw back, cutting the lead back to five at 21-16. The Raiders went on another 9 points run with no V-Hawk push back. A Jack Hennessy three-pointer cut the lead to ten with seven minutes left in the half. The Raiders then went on a 17-0 run to take the 50-22 lead down the stretch of the first half. The final points of the half were scored on a three from Jonah Ogunsanya
  • The V-Hawks opened the second half with four points from Kole Johnson. There was quite a bit of back and forth in the early minutes of the second half, with the V-Hawks consistently responding whenever the Raiders scored. The V-Hawks went on a 6-0 run in the middle of the half, but the Raiders responded again. The V-Hawks continued fighting throughout the half, but eventually fell to Northwestern 99-70 at the end of the game.

The V-Hawks will travel to Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Wednesday to face off against the Mustangs of Mount Mercy. The game is set to begin at 6pm.
