V-Hawks Finish Fourth in First Race of Season
DECORAH, Iowa -- The V-Hawk women competed at the Luther All-American Invitational this weekend to open their 2025 season. Throughout the 5k competition, Viterbo was able to claim fourth place, defeating Upper Iowa, Northeast Iowa, Augustana (Ill.), and Hawkeye CC. The star of the show was freshman Ilie Jensen's performance. Jensen had the fastest race on the team and made her debut for the V-Hawks. The V-Hawks competed several individuals at the race.
Freshman Ilie Jensen led the way for the V-Hawks, running a time of 21:06.60. Her time earned her a 13th place finish. Shortly behind Jensen was Samantha Berndt. Berndt ran a 21:14.70 and captured 15th place. Hannah Butler came in 26th for the V-Hawks with a 22:18.30, and freshman Jill Chovan made her V-Hawk debut with a 22:57.90. AJ Murphy came in with a 22:59.70, freshman Grace Wamre earned a 23:11.80, and freshman Lily Peterson came in with a 23:59.90.
Bernadette Frisch, Kaitlyn Wrage, Olivia Cox, and Julie Woodman also ran for the V-Hawks on Friday.
