V-Hawks dominate on Senior Day

LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Viterbo University Women's Volleyball team hosted Valley City State University on Saturday. The V-Hawks celebrated their Senior Day with a dominant performance against the Vikings, winning in three straight sets (25-14, 25-13, 25-23).

Set one started back-and-forth, until Kenidi McCabe went on a 4-0 service run, contributing two service aces along the way, to pull the V-Hawks away from the Vikings. Set two was Viterbo's strongest set offensively, ending the set with a .387 hitting percentage. Set three was much more intense after the Vikings went on a 5-2 run to chip away at the Viterbo lead late in the match. A Maya Roberts kill made it match point, but Valley City got the side out to keep things alive. However, Katie Frohmader took care of business, ending the match with a kill.

Adrianna Reinhart was a standout in the back row for the V-Hawks, contributing a team-high 19 digs, many of which contributed to second-chance points for Viterbo, four assists, and two service aces. McCabe also put on a great performance defensively, adding 13 digs and a team-high three service aces.

Offensively, Miah Garant could not be stopped, posting 16 kills in 21 attempts for a .714 hitting percentage in the match. Maya Roberts added 12 kills of her own. Lauryn Sobasky had 23 assists and Abbey Johnson had 18.

Viterbo will remain home next Friday for a matchup against conference rival Bellevue. The game is set for a 6:00 p.m. CST start. You can follow the action on viterboathletics.com or by following us on social media.
