Garant earns NAIA, NSAA Defender of the Week honors for blocking performance
BISMARK, N.D. - The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) announced its Women's Volleyball Player-of-the-Week honors on Monday. Viterbo's own Miah Garant was named Defender-of-the-Week after a stellar performance at the net, helping No. 2 Viterbo to a 4-0 record for the week. A day later, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) revealed Garant to be the Defender-of-the-Week at the national level.
Garant accumulated a total of 29 blocks in the four games. She collected seven blocks (4 solos, 3 assisted) in a 3-1 road victory at Waldorf (Iowa). She followed up with 11 blocks (1 solo, 11 assisted) in a 3-0 sweep over No. 24 Grand View (Iowa) and three blocks in a 3-0 victory over No. 19 Columbia (Mo.). She capped the tournament with eight blocks in a 3-1 victory over No. 17 Montana Tech. For the week, Garant averaged 2.2 blocks per set.
