No. 9 Viterbo defeats No. 5 Dordt 3-0
LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Viterbo University Women's Volleyball team resumed day two of the Days Inn & Suites Viterbo Invitational tonight. The No. 9 V-Hawks defeated the No. 5 Dordt Defenders in three straight sets, (25-16, 25-15, 25-14). This is the eighth ranked opponent that the V-Hawks have defeated this season and the seventh in three straight sets.
Viterbo began set one down 0-3 but quickly got the ball back after a Dordt service error. The V-Hawks then went on an Adrianna Reinhart service run to go up 6-4. That wouldn't be the first run for the V-Hawks in set one, multiple scoring runs set them apart from the Defenders, giving them the 25-16 set win.
Set two began with a Maya Roberts kill. Roberts had three of the first four points in the second set. The V-Hawks broke away from Dordt after two kills from Katie Frohmader at 10-8 and went on another scoring run to get the 21-11 lead. Frohmader had the kill to get the V-Hawks the set two win at 25-15.
Set three started very back-and-forth until the V-Hawks went on an 11-0 scoring run to go up 20-10. Roberts contributed six of those points from six kills during the run. The set was easy for the V-Hawks after that run, only allowing three more Dordt points in the set to win 25-14.
The V-Hawks were led on offense by Roberts who ended the night with 15 kills, hitting .345. Miah Garant had nine kills on ten total attempts, hitting .900 on the night. Kenzie Winker also had nine kills and Frohmader was right behind her with eight. Abbey Johnson led in assists with 27. Garant also led in blocks with five block assists.
