Three V-Hawks Compete at NAIA National Competition
GAINESVILLE, Florida -- Three V-Hawks earned a chance to compete at the highest stage this past weekend in Gainesville, Florida. Izzy Keck, Emily Ludwig, and Avery Poppe each earned a qualifying spot at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships. Izzy Keck and Emily Ludwig each competed in the pole vault, while Avery Poppe competed in the pentathlon and the long jump.
On Thursday, Izzy Keck and Emily Ludwig competed in the pole vault. Emily Ludwig came in 16th place out of 24 competitors with a 3.55 meter vault (11-7.75). Izzy Keck was able to vault to a 3.65m (11-11.75) height, finishing tied for ninth place, just behind a top-eight spot.
Avery Poppe competed in the pentathlon on Thursday, finishing in ninth place out of sixteen competitors. Poppe finished with a score of 3434, coming just 16 points behind eight place. Poppe finished 7th in the 60mH, 11th in the high jump, 4th in the shot put, 9th in the long jump, and 7th in the 800m run. On Friday, Poppe returned to the field to compete in the long jump. she finished in 27th place with a 5.28m (17-4) jump.
