V-Hawks Take Second as a Team at the Dick Hendricks Invite

RIPON, Wis. -- The V-Hawks traveled to Ripon this weekend for the Dick Hendricks Invite. At the invite, the faced off against several teams, taking second overall as a team. Throughout the day, several individual V-Hawks shined. The meet was their final regular-season meet before the Indoor CCAC Championships next weekend on February 20. 

Throughout the day, fourteen V-Hawks finished in the top-five of their respective events, and two V-Hawks brought home individual championships.

In the pole vault, Izzy Keck brought home the individual championship with a 3.70m jump. Her vault was just under her career-high and is an 'A' qualifying vault. Her vault garnered her a first place finish in the competition. The other individual champion was Emily Ludwig in the 60mH. Ludwig ran a 9.15s performance in the hurdle finals, which placed her in first and crowned her as the champion. 

Other top finishers include Kaylee McLeod and Braylee Hyatt in the 60m race. They both ran an 8.02s race, but McLeod was at an 8.013 and Hyatt was at an 8.017 for fourth and fifth place finishes. Braylee Hyatt also placed high in the 200m with a third place finish and a season-best 26.88s race. 

Lainey Teynor and Loganne Marks both impressed in the 400m, taking third and fourth place respectively and being 0.3s off from one another. Jill Chovan took home a fourth-place finish in the one mile competition, and she set a new personal best with her 5:54.50 time. 

In the long jump, the V-Hawks picked up 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place with Avery Poppe, Braylee Hyatt, and Lillia Chvatal, respectively. Poppe jumped a 5.45m, Hyatt with a 5.31m, and Chvatal with a 5.29m. In the pole vault, Keck took first with a 3.70m, and Ludwig claimed third with a 3.40m vault. 

The final top-finishers of the day were Rhianna Robinson and Avery Poppe in the triple jump. Robinson took home second place with a 10.77m jump. Poppe came up just behind her with a fifth place finish on a 10.67m jump.

The V-Hawks are returning to competition on Friday, February 20th for the CCAC Indoor Championships. The championships will be held at Olivet Nazarene.
