V-Hawks Compete at Gopher Classic
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The V-Hawks headed north to Minneapolis on Saturday to compete in the Gopher Classic. Through the weekend, the V-Hawks came home with another school record and several top-10 finishes on the day. Seven V-Hawks finished in the top ten in their respective events throughout the competition.
Avery Poppe broke the school record this weekend in the 400m race. Poppe completed the 400 in 58.31 seconds and took third place in the competition out of 30 competitors. Also on the track was Emily Ludwig's impressive 60mH finish. Ludwig finished the hurdles in 8.93 seconds, just .03 seconds off from her personal best and school record. She took second overall in the 60mH out of nearly 50 competitors.
On the field, Izzy Keck picked up a fifth place finish in the pole vault. Keck vaulted a 3.62m performance, qualifying her for nationals yet again. Also on the field was Rhianna Robinson in the triple jump. Her 11.00m jump earned her a fifth place finish in the competition.
Avery Poppe finished top-10 in the long jump with a 5.26m performance to earn sixth place. Olivia Weber earned top-10 in the high jump with a 1.40m jump and a ninth place finish. The final top-10 finisher on the weekend was Isabel Rubenzer. Rubenzer finished in 10th place for the shot put with an 11.26m throw.

The V-Hawks will compete at the Dick Hendricks Invitational at Ripon on Saturday, February 14th. In two weeks, the V-Hawks will compete in the CCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
