V-Hawks Impress at Mark Schuck Open, Shatter Records Again
MANKATO, Minn. -- The V-Hawks traveled to Mankato, Minnesota this weekend to compete at the Mark Schuck Open and Multi. The V-Hawks came away with several school records broken and a National Qualifier again. They continue to impress on the track and in the field.
Throughout the weekend, the V-Hawks finished nine competitors and groups in the top-10 in their respective events. The best finishes of the day were a second place finish for Lainey Teynor in the 500m and a second place finish from Emily Ludwig in the 60mH.
In the 60mH, Emily Ludwig impressed, setting a school record of 9.00s in the prelims. Ludwig went on to break the record again with an 8.90s finish in the finals, earning second place, and running the NAIA's 25th best time this year.
In the Long Jump, Avery Poppe soared with a 5.79m jump, shattering the record that she set last weekend (5.65m). Poppe's jump is the 10th best in the NAIA currently and earns her an 'A' standard National Qualification. Lillia Chvatal also jumped in the long jump with a 5.41m finish, setting a new NAIA #51.
The V-Hawks 4x400m group of Avery Poppe, Loganne Marks, Lydia Reis, and Lainey Teynor stunned again. They finished in 4:03.96 to earn another school record in the 4x400m. The record has now been broken three times this indoor season.
The final impressive performance of the weekend came in the 500m. Lainey Teynor ran the 500m in 1:23.40 to set a new school record for the V-Hawks. Teynor finished in second place in the 500m.
