Avery Poppe Named Field Athlete of the Week After Record-Breaking Performance

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced their selections for this week's weekly honors on Wednesday. The CCAC honors Avery Poppe as the Field Athlete of the Week in the Track & Field category.

Avery Poppe earns this honor for the first time in her career after a successful weekend at the UWL Pat Healy Classic. Poppe had a standout performance in the long jump to earn her accolade. Poppe jumped 5.65 meters, qualifying for the NAIA National Competition in March.

She also shattered the school record in the long jump with her performance. Later in the competition, Poppe would go on to be part of the 4x400m relay to break another school record. Additionally, she broke the school record in the pentathlon earlier in the season at the M City Classic in December.

Poppe is no stranger to accolades, earning her fair share of recognition in the 2024-25 season. She was a 2024-25 National Qualifier and was named an Outdoor Track and Field All-American last year during her freshman campaign.

Poppe and the V-Hawks will return to the track this weekend. They head to Mankato, Minnesota to compete in the Mark Schuck Open & Multi. The competition will take place on January 30 and 31.
