V-Hawks Compete at Pat Healy Classic, Poppe and Keck Qualify for Nationals
LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The V-Hawks returned to the track this weekend to compete in the UWL Pat Healy Classic. The team finished in third place overall, defeating UW-Stout and Saint Mary's of Minnesota. Throughout the day, the V-Hawks had moments of individual highlights. Avery Poppe qualified for the National Competition, and several others broke program record during the day.
Avery Poppe qualified for the NAIA National Competition in the long jump with a 5.65m jump. Her performance lands her a new long jump school record and puts her at 15th in the nation for the long jump Poppe also put together a personal best in the 60m hurdles, running a 9.08 and moving into the second-best time in program history.
Izzy Keck also qualified for nationals, vaulting a 3.71m in the pole vault. Her 3.71m jump is a lifetime best. Her 3.71m jump also places her as the 6th best pole vaulter in the nation.
Emily Ludwig ran in the 60m hurdles as well, running a time of 9.03, breaking the program record. Also breaking a program record was the women's 4x400m relay. The relay consisted of Loganne Marks, Avery Poppe, Lydia Reis, and Lainey Teynor. Their time of a 4:05.04 is a new program best.
Kaylie Wiedmeyer impressed on the field, throwing a lifetime personal best of 13.51m, moving into the second-best throw in program history. She also placed 4th in the shot put with a 12.28m throw.
Finally Kaylee McLeod earned a lifetime PR of 5.15m in the long jump, moving into the 9th all-time in V-Hawk history.
