V-Hawks down Blue Angels in Defiant Victory

LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The V-Hawks took to the court this weekend in another CCAC competition. The V-Hawks hosted the Blue Angels of Mount Mary and came away with a 96-45 dominant win. The V-Hawks improve to 9-10 on the season and 7-5 in conference competition. The Blue Angels fall to 7-13 overall and 0-12 in conference competition. 

Offensively, the V-Hawks were led by Alivia Koltz off the bench. Alivia entered and dropped in two three-pointers. Carly Drew added 11 to the tally for the V-Hawks. Overall, 18 V-Hawks entered the game and scored on Saturday. Defensively, Pearla Teko-Folly led with 10 rebounds, 2 steals, and a block. Aubrey Dorn added seven rebounds and Chloe Auth picked up five rebounds. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The V-Hawks scored the first nine points of the game
  • At 9-2, the V-Hawks went on a 9-0 run to take an 18-2 lead
  • Scoring from Abby Ward gave the V-Hawks a 20 point lead in the first quarter
  • The V-Hawks were up 27-8 after the first
  • Marley Hughes and Lauryn Goettl combined for the first points of the second
  • The V-Hawks extended their lead with scoring from Nora Tucker, taking the 36-12 lead
  • Late scoring from Gina Stefferud brought the V-Hawks to a 49-16 lead going into the half
  • Out of the half, Pearla Teko-Folly and Nora Tucker combined for five points
  • The V-Hawks went on a three minute scoring drought, but a three from Ashlee Nicolai brought the scoring back
  • Another Nicolai three pointer gave the V-Hawks a 67-32 lead
  • Lydia Niederstadt and Ashlee Williamson scored the final points of the third quarter
  • Aubrey Dorn opened scoring in the fourth quarter, giving the V-Hawks a 40-point lead
  • Gina Stefferud scored the final points for the V-Hawks, and the V-Hawks claimed a 96-45 win.

The V-Hawks will travel east to Illinois to face off against the Tigers of Olivet Nazarene. The game is set to begin at 5:30pm on Wednesday, January 28.
