V-Hawks Fall in Final Regular Season Series

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Softball fall in doubleheader with Calumet College of St. Joseph Saturday afternoon. The V-hawks fall to 9-25 (CCAC 5-11) while the Crimson Wave rise to 13-25 (CCAC 7-9).

Viterbo 4, Calumet 9

The V-Hawks fell behind in the first inning with a pair of runs by the Crimson Wave, Building on their lead they would add seven additional runs over the next three innings. In an attempt to come back the V-Hawks would score four runs eith two in the sexth and two in the seventh.

Starting on the mound, Madyson Schultz would pitch three innings for four strikeouts in 87 pitches, letting up five hits, and five runs. Ave Keicher would come in relief for the final three innings, striking out three batters, letting up four runs and seven hits.

Alina Garskta would lead from the plate with a homerun and an additional RBI, also with RBIs Grace Elton, and Courtney Denton would also get on base.

Viterbo 3, Calumet 8

The Crimson Wave would take the lead early in the second inning with four runs before turning another two in the third. The V-Hawks would respond with three runs in the fifth inning though the Crimson Wave would continue to widen the gap in the sixth with two additional runs.

Alexis Watson would pitch the full seven innings on the mound with six strikeouts over 144 pitches thrown for the loss.

At the plate Megan Jardine would lead with two RBIs, Watson with one, and Natalie Martin with a double.

The CCAC Conference tournament begins Wednesday May 1.
