LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Softball split in a double header with Clarke University Thursday afternoon. The V-hawks fall to 8-22 (CCAC 4-8) while the pride sit at 21-19.
Viterbo 2, Clarke 1
The V-Hawks taking the lead with a single run in the bottom of the third would continue to add to their lead in the fifth. The Pride with a last minute rally would score in the top of the seventh though would fall a run short.
Morgan Fuhrer would lead the V-Hawks from the mound with seven innings pitched, striking out two batters, throwing 65 pitches and 42 strikes.
At the plate Megan Jardine would collect both RBIs from the game also helping Natalie Martin, and Courtney Denton turn a double play.
Viterbo 0, Clarke 1
The V-Hawks held to no runs would let off a homer in the top of the second though would never recover.
On the mound Alexis Watson would pitch all seven innings, striking out four batters over 108 pitches.
The V-Hawks are back in action Wednesday April 26 to take on St. Francis (Ill).
