V-Hawks Fall to Seahawks and Tigers

TUSCON, Ariz. – The Viterbo University Softball team befell Salve Regina University 15-5 and Dakota Wesleyan University 12-4 on Tuesday. The V-Hawks sink to 1-9 on the season.

Viterbo 5, Salve Regina 15

The V-Hawks up in the bottom of the third inning off an error would lose the lead in the fourth, though scoring three more runs in the bottom of the inning the Seahawks would advance the lead fast.

Emily Roberts, starting on the mound, would claim two strikeouts in three innings, allowing three hits and only a single run. In relief Julie Woodman would let up two hits and five runs for the loss before Ava Keicher and Madyson Schultz would finish out the game with an inning pitched each.

Makayla Madrid at the plate would bomb a triple for an RBI, Alina Garstka also hitting for a triple, Megan Jardine with a double and an RBI.

Viterbo 4, Dakota Wesleyan 12

The Tigers would claim an early lead with 11 runs in the first inning giving the V-Hawks a small opportunity to send past three more runs late in the game.

At the pitch Gwendolyn Schnider would open the game letting up two runs, before the inning is out Summer Haag would enter the game in relief allowing five hits and nine runs for the loss. The V-Hawks final pitcher would be Mia Weithaus pitching four innings with five strikeouts, five hits, and a single run.

At the plate Chelsea Paulson would smack a double also collecting an RBI, Alexis Watson also with the double with two RBIs, and Sydnie Newell rounding out with a final RBI.

The V-Hawks are back in action Thursday March 13 against Mayville State.
