V-Hawks Drop Two on the Road
UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill., BOURBONNAIS, Ill. -- The V-Hawks took to the road for the weekend for two conference competitions. The team competed against Governors State and Olivet Nazarene, falling to both teams. Against Governors State, the V-Hawks fell 3-0, and against Olivet Nazarene, they fell 3-1. The V-Hawks fall to 8-20 on the season and 5-6 in the CCAC competitions.
Against Governors State, the V-Hawks were led offensively by Logan Amdur's eight kills on a 0.105 hitting percentage. Ethan Davis added six kills and Styrk Myhre had five. Roman Rzeszutko led from the set with 13 assists, and in the back court, Max Dugan led with nine digs. In the front court, Styrk Myhre led with three blocks.
Against Olivet Nazarene, Owen Collitt led the V-Hawks with nine kills on a 0.421 hitting percentage, while Logan Amdur came just behind with eight kills. From the set, Roman Rzeszutko led with 19 assists. Defensively, Max Dugan led the back court with 23 digs, while Owen Collitt led the front court with four blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED (vs Governors State)
- Styrk Myhre earned the first kill of the game for the V-Hawks. The team kept pace with the Jaguars until Governors State went on a 4-0 run. The V-Hawks continued fighting, bringing the score back to a tie at 14-14. The two teams remained tied at 20-20, but Governors State went on a 5-1 run to close the set. The V-Hawks fell in set one 25-21.
- In the second set, the V-Hawks opened with a kill from Styrk Myhre and an ace from Daxton Marschall. The V-Hawks kept pace with the Jaguars again, but fell behind at 17-14. The V-Hawks struggled to close the gap, despite kills from Logan Amdur and Ethan Davis. The V-Hawks fell in set two 25-19.
- In the third set,, the V-Hawks opened on a 3-0 run. The Jaguars responded with a 9-1 run that gave them the 16-7 lead over the V-Hawks. A block by Logan Amdur and Styrk Myhre gave the V-Hawks some momentum, but they struggled late in the set, eventually falling 25-14 in the third set.
HOW IT HAPPENED (vs Olivet Nazarene)
- The V-Hawks earned their first kill of the game on a Logan Amdur swing. The V-Hawks took the 10-8 lead on back-to-back aces from Daxton Marschall. The V-Hawks held the lead at 16-14. The teams found themselves tied at 21-21, but the Tigers escaped the V-Hawks, taking the 25-21 first set win.
- In the second set, the V-Hawks scored their first point on a block by Logan Amdur. The V-Hawks went down early, but they strung together a 6-0 run to take the 13-10 lead. The V-Hawks extended their lead to 17-12. They later expainded to 21-16 later in the set. The V-Hawks took the second set win 25-20.
- The V-Hawks went down early in the third set early 7-5. The V-Hawks continued fighting, but found themselves down late 14-10. The V-Hawks were able to fightin within one point on an ace from Ethan Davis at 23-22. The Tigers escaped yet again to take the 26-24 victory.
- In the fourth set, the V-Hawks went down 4-0 early. They fought back to a 10-10 tie, and the team took the lead at 12-11. The V-Hawks found themselves in a 17-15 deficit late in the set. The V-Hawks struggled to come back late in the set, and they eventually fell 25-19.

The V-Hawks will return to the court on April 3 as they hit the road to face off against the Judson Eagles. First serve is set for 7pm.
