V-Hawks 14 Blocks Top Fighting Bees

DAVENPORT, Iowa – The Viterbo Men's Volleyball team topped #3 seed St. Ambrose on Tuesday evening 3-2 (25-17, 26-24, 25-17, 25-22, 15-8). The V-Hawks rise to 6-29 (CCAC 1-11) while the Fighting Bees finish their season at 14-16.

The V-Hawks exploded out of the gate with a 5-1 run, led by Ethan Davis, Riley Connors, and blocks from Styrk Myhre. Logan Amdur fed consistent ball to Alex Kratzenstein and Connors for kills. With back to back aces Jack Peroz would halt a small run by the Fighting Bees. The V-Hawks claiming set one with a kill from Myhre and a block with Amdur.

Davis and Connors with early kills gave VU a 3-2 lead. A Kratzenstein and Justin Kratzenstein with blocks and kills would end the next SAU run. Carrying momentum Peroz would serve an ace backing a Viterbo rally. Myhre delivered a kill, followed by Connors smacking down set point taking over set two.

The V-Hawks with early kills couldn't keep up to open set three. Amdur and J Kratzenstein created a short burst though the Fighting Bees would take control midway through the set.

Burton Bosan Jr. on service with an ace would stoke the fire for the V-Hawks. While Davis and A Kratzenstein continued to find gaps in SAU's blocks. Davis and Myhre grabbing key blocks late in the set propelling VU into the lead. The Fighting Bees would rally going on a 9-2 set run.

Viterbo looking to claim the final set, put Amdur and Davis at the net sparking into action with early kills. Daxton Marschall's ace would keep the pressure off the V-Hawks allowing Amdur to find A Kratzenstein for key kills. With a kill and a block Myhre would seal the deal for the V-Hawks.

Davis led the V-Hawks with 14 kills, Amdur with 41 assists and 16 digs. Kam Dixon led the Fighting Bees with 15 kills.

The V-Hawks continue in the post season on Thursday, April 17 at Olivet nazarene.
