V-Hawks Lose Uphill Battle

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Viterbo Men's Volleyball team fell Lourdes 3-1 (25-19, 26-24, 25-17, 25-15) and Saint Xavier University 3-0 (25-15, 25-12, 25-10) on Saturday afternoon. The V-Hawks sink to 4-28 (CCAC 0-10), the Cougars rise to 12-9, and the Cougars rise to 24-0 (CCAC 11-0).

Riley Connors would grab the first kill of the match from Logan Amdur followed by a kill by Alex Kratzenstein and a block by Styrk Myhre. At the net Connors would smack down an unassisted kill before Justin Kratzenstein would claim a kill of his own.

The V-Hawks working to get in a rhythm would trade kills with Connors and Myhre on the Viterbo front. On a Burton Bosan Jr. serve Amdur would slam a kill, Connors following up with back to back kills. Amdur would pick up an ace, Myhre grabbing a pair of kills before Connors would grab the final kill of the set.

Amdur would open the third with an ace before setting up Ethan Davis for a kill. Davis carrying momentum with a block alongside Myhre, and a Myhre Kill. The Cougars taking a six point run would end by an A Kratzenstein kill though the V-Hawks wouldn't hold off Lourdes with a four point run to end the set.

A pair of kills by Davis would begin scoring for VU Bosan claiming an ace, Myhre backing up the score with a kill from Roman Rzeszutko. Davis sneaking past an ace of his own before A Kratzenstein would take the final V-Hawk kill.

Connors led with 13 kills, Amdur with 24 assists, and Dugan with 18 digs. Vinicius Lopes led the Cougars with 18 kills.

The V-Hawks opening match two of the day would set up Myhre for the first two VU kills of the set. Connors and J Kratzenstein would grab the next two kills.

SXU grabbed the first five of set two before J Kratzenstein would take a solo block. Max Dugan on the serve would take an ace and a kill.

Amdur with the set for Connors would claim the first kill of the set, Myhre continuing with a pair of kills before Connors would take the final V-Hawk kill.

Amdur led with eight assists, Myhre with five kills, and Dugan with five digs. Kegan Olig led the Cougars with 12 kills.

The V-Hawks return to action Tuesday, April 8 at home for Senior Night.
