V-Hawks Fall in Home Tri-Match

LA CROSSE, Wis – The Viterbo Men's Volleyball to Olivet Nazarene University 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 26-24) and UW-Stevens Point 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-12). The V-Hawks sink to 3-19 (CCAC 0-4), while the Tigers rise to 8-8 and the Pointers sit at 16-7.  

Ethan Davis opened game one on the weekend with a kill followed by Styrk Myhre and Alex Kratzenstein with a big block. The Tigers responded with a six point run before Davis would take a kill set up by Logan Amdur. Midway through, the V-Hawks would take five in a row with kills by Kratzenstein. Amdur and Justin Kratzenstein with a block would hold ONU at set point.

The V-Hawks keeping the set close early would find Myhre with an early kill. Davis claiming the next two V-Hawk kills, Connors also sending past a kill. Capitalizing on a service error Davis would get a kill in from Roman Rzeszutko before A Kratzenstein and Connors would send a pair of kills.

Myhre and Connors with a block early would lead Max Dugan to service with an ace. Davis with a series of kills from Amdur would keep the V-Hawks within reach. On a six point run Amdur would take a kill before setting up Davis for two more. Down to the wire, Myhre would take a kill though the Tigers would take the match.

Davis led the V-Hawks with 14 kills, Amdur set up 23 assists, and Dugan with 12 digs. Cade Ooms led the Tigers with 18 kills.

Match two opened with a pair of kills by Davis and Connors followed by J Kratzenstein with a kill at the net. Amdur would take the next three V-Hawk kills before the Pointers would go on a five point run. Burton Bosan Jr. would take a service ace before the set was out.

Bosan Jr. would take an ace opening the second set Amdur claiming the next two kills. During a four point run A Kratzenstein would collect two kills both from Amdur, Bosan Jr. taking once more ace on the set.

 Amdur led the V-Hawks with kills and assists with eight kills and 12 assists, Rzeszutko followed with 11 assists and Dugan took 14 digs.

The V-Hawks return to action Tuesday, March 18 at Judson for a conference matchup.
