Home Rally Falls Short

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo Men's Volleyball team fell in five sets on Saturday afternoon to Trinity Christian College 3-2 (25-23, 25-16, 25-15, 25-18, 15-13). The V-Hawks sink to 2-11, 0-3, while the Trolls rise to 2-10. 1-2.

Alex Kratzenstein opened the match with a kill set up by Logan Amdur, followed by Stryk Myhre on the next fill. Claiming the next three points Kratzenstein and Jack Peroz were on the kills before Burton Bosan Jr. would smack down a kill.

The V-Hawks narrowly behind would find Kratzenstein with back to back kills with Max Dugan on the serve. Amdur swinging would put Bosan on the serve with an ace. Viterbo on a six point run would put Myhre at the net with a block and Amdur with the ace after.

Kratzenstein opened game three with a kill to start a five point run, Kratzenstein then taking back to back kills forcing a TCC timeout. A quick three points with a block by Kratzenstein and Myhre would put the V-Hawks up by 10, Myhre claiming the final kill of the set.

VU looking for the win in set four would find Peroz with the kill and an ace before Amdur would take a pair of kills at the net. On a set of errors, the Trolls would capitalize to gain set four sending the match to five.

Trinity Christian would take the first five before the V-Hawks would respond with four beginning with a Myhre kill. Peroz on the kills would keep the V-Hawks in the game with Amdur sending past a kill, though the Trolls would gain the lead and claim the match.

A.Kratzenstein led the V-Hawks with 15 kills, Amdur claimed 39 assists, and Dugan took 20 digs. Conner Dargan and Zach Supanich led the Trolls with eight kills each.

The V-Hawks return to action Sunday March 2 at UW-Stevens point.
