Mustangs Overpower V-Hawks
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Viterbo Men's Volleyball team fell in three sets to Morningside University on Sunday afternoon (25-23, 25-23, 25-15). The V-Hawks fall to 1- 3 on the season while the Mustangs rise to 4-1.
The V-Hawks come out strong with the first three points, Styrk Myhre making the first kill backed up by Alex Kratzenstein. Logan Amdur claiming a solo block to put the V-Hawks up by five with Myhre following with one of his own. Continuing with a strong defense, Myhre and Riley Connors posting up a block before the Mustangs claimed the final two kills.
Connors would lay down the first kill of set two, though MU would go on a five point run, Kratzenstein ending it with a kill from Amdur. A service ace by Jack Peroz would tie up the set, Myhre's kill taking the lead for the first time. Peroz with the block held the Mustangs to 24 though a kill came through for set two to go to Morningside.
Neck and Neck, Kratzenstein would take the first kill with Peroz not far behind. Amdur sending over a kill before Myhre would deliver the final kill for the V-Hawks, the Mustangs claiming the final set.
Kratzenstein led the V-Hawks with 12 kills, while Amdur set up 30 assists and Dugan took 14 digs. Natan Alves led the Mustangs with 11 kills.
The V-Hawks return to action Wednesday February 5 at home to face off Saint Xavier.
