MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa - The Viterbo University Men's Soccer team defeated Iowa Wesleyan 3-0 on Sunday. The V-Hawks improved their record to 16-0-1. The win marked their 16th win in a row, which beats out the previous winning streak record in program history of 13, dating back to 1990. The win also marked the first time in program history that a men's soccer team has remained undefeated.
Head Men's Soccer Coach Luke Dunn got his 35th win as head coach at Iowa Wesleyan, with the season improving his all-time coaching record to 35-22-3. He moves to fourth most-winning coach in Viterbo men's soccer history.
In the game, Benian Yao scored the teams' first goal in the 11th minute. Viterbo went into the locker room up 2-0 after a goal from Polyzois Douvas, assisted by Alfie Gyurkovits. Qian Grosvenor attributed the V-Hawks third and final goal of the game to seal the win.
This was the V-Hawks 11th shutout in the season. The men's soccer team hasn't allowed a goal since October 4 against Bethel (Minn.). Goalkeeper Ernesto Ascenzo tallied eight saves in the game.
