LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo Men's Soccer team (10-0-1) extended their winning streak to 10 games after a dominating win over Iowa Wesleyan, 8-0.
The V-Hawks got the scoring started right away after a goal by Conner Erdmann from Jacob Battista at 8:25. In the 27th minute, Benian Yao scored another goal for the V-Hawks to go up 2-0. Ernesto Ascenzo collected two saves in the first half to keep the Tigers off the board at halftime.
The V-Hawk offense came out scorching hot in the second half, scoring three goals in the first three minutes of the half. Two goals by Aidan Radford and one by Alfie Gyurkovits put Viterbo up 5-0 by minute 47:41. At 54:49, Radford completed the hat trick, scoring his third goal. Abdul Samet Ankaoglu got in on the scoring action at 56:21 to put the V-Hawks up 7-0. Jorden Verdonk scored a final goal for the V-Hawks at 69:03.
Radford led the team with three goals from six shots and Battista had four assists in the game. The V-Hawks had many opportunities as Iowa Wesleyan received seven yellow cards and four red cards. The Viterbo Men's Soccer team will return to regular play on October 14th at Maranatha Baptist University. The game is scheduled to start at 3:00 PM CST.
