Bio

Luz enters her ninth year as Viterbo's head Competitive Dance coach. She has been the head coach since the program's inaugural season in 2018-19.

A two-time conference coach of the year (2025, 2026), Anna Luz has led the V-Hawks to five straight NAIA National Championship appearances. Throughout her time with the team, Luz has developed the program from being a brand new program to a contender for a national title.

Throughout her years with the team, Luz has coached 15 All-Americans with 37 All-American awards being handed out to those individuals over the course of their careers. At the highest level, Luz coached the 2023 NAIA Co-Dancer of the Year. Additionally, she has coached 11 All-Conference honorees, two Conference Freshmen of the Year, and one Conference Dancer of the Year all within two years of joining the American Midwest Conference.

In 2026, the V-Hawks made their fifth NAIA National Championship, posting a score of 93.04 to earn third place at the competition. Their third place finish was their highest ever, and the score ties the Viterbo Athletics highest national finish across all sports.

During the 2023-25 seasons, Anna Luz led the V-Hawks to three National Championship competitions, a stage that only twelve teams compete on annually. Throughout those seasons, the team finished within the top ten at all events.

In 2022, the V-Hawks made their first Competitive Dance National Championship, ended with their highest final ranking (seventh), and had their first three All-Americans in program history.

Before coming to Viterbo, Luz worked as a Support Specialist for More Than Just Great Dancing in La Crosse from May 2017 to February 2018. Luz has been an instructor at Jan's School of Dance since 2013 and at Misty's Dance Unlimited as well.

Luz graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Sciences; Organizational and Professional Emphasis. While in college, she was a dancer and choreographer on the LC Hip Hop Team. Upon graduation, Luz joined the La Crosse Showtime's Show Stoppers Dance Team in their inaugural 2017-18 season.

Luz has also spent two seasons coaching at the high school level. As an assistant coach for the Houston High School Varsity Dance Team, she helped lead the team to the state tournament for the first time since 2014. She has also worked as an assistant coach for her alma mater, Randolph High School, in 2014-15.

Luz resides in La Crescent, Minnesota with her husband, Viterbo Alum, Colin Luz, and her daughter, Malia.
