V-Hawks Claim Non-Conference Win Over Warriors
LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The V-Hawks hosted the Waldorf Warriors on Tuesday in a mid-week non-conference single-game matchup. The competition was the first home competition of the season for the V-Hawks, and they came away with a dominant 15-6 win after nine innings of competition.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Warriors struck first in the competition, scoring their first run in the first inning. The V-Hawks had a dominant response, claiming seven runs in the bottom of the first inning.
- The first run came on a Ryder Mortensen double that ran in Xavier Gilmore
- The second run came on a single from Jaden Vanderwiere that ran in Nathan Faust
- The third run came on Jaden Vanderwiere being walked in
- The fourth and fifth runs came on a single from Jake Ulbert that ran in Derick Cossio and Eli Tucker
- The sixth and seventh runs came on an Armani Camus single that ran in Gabe Kahl and Jake Ulbert
The V-Hawks struck again in the third inning when Xavier Gilmore sent one to left field, running in Jake Ulbert. The Warriors attempted to fight back in the fifth inning, scoring two runs, but the V-Hawks responded once again in the seventh with a Jaden Vanderwiere single-run homer. In the eighth, the Warriors picked up a few runs, but the V-Hawks responded with six more runs in the bottom of the eighth.

- Eli Tucker was walked, advancing Ryder Mortensen home

BATTING AND PITCHING
Jaden Vanderwiere led the V-Hawks from the plate in their competition. Vanderwiere had three hits and three RBIs in his five plate appearances. Jake Ulbert, Nathan Faust, and Xavier Gilmore each collected two hits and at least one RBI each. Gabe Kahl impressed with four RBIs and one hit. Other hits on the day came from Armani Camus, Ryder Mortensen, and Cody Lozano.
Anthony Sanchez started pitching for the V-Hawks, throwing five innings and only allowing three runs and three hits. He recorded six strikeouts through 27 batters faced. Michael Conroy pitched one inning with no hits or runs allowed. Ryan Gordon and Evan Laudenberg each pitched one with one hit and no runs allowed. The final pitcher was Victor Christianson, allowing three runs and one hit.
