V-Hawks Drop Single Game to UW-Parkside

KENOSHA, Wis. -- The V-Hawks took to the field on Monday afternoon to face off against UW-Parkside in a non-conference competition. Through the nine inning game, the V-Hawks fell 11-4. With the loss, the V-Hawks fall to 5-24 on the season and UW-Parkside improves to 15-14. 

The V-Hawks opened the game holding off UW-Parkside through the first two innings. The V-Hawks also struggled to score early in the game. In the bottom of the third, UW-Parkside was able to score eight runs. The V-Hawks got back in the game, holding off Parkside yet again through the fourth and fifth innings, but UW-Parkside put up two more runs in the sixth inning. The V-Hawks were in a 10 run deficit going into the seventh inning. In the top of the seventh, Nathan Faust stepped up to the plate and hit a double for three RBIs. Faust ran in Ryan Mesa, Gabe Kahl, and Tanner Nienhaus. The V-Hawks continued to fight back, holding off Parkside in the bottom of the seventh. In the top of the eighth, Ryan Mesa singled to run in Armani Camus. The V-Hawks continued fighting, but the team eventually fell 11-4 against UW-Parkside. 

At the plate, the V-Hawks were led by Nathan Faust. Faust had two hits and three RBIs in his four appearances. Other hits on the day came from Xavier Gilmore, Armani Camus, and Ryan Mesa. In the circle, Evan Laudenberg started for the V-Hawks, allowing six runs on four hits. He threw 52 pitches that resulted in 22 strikes. Spencer Hautamaki came in next to pitch three innings, allowing just two hits and two runs. He thre 61 pitches and 38 strikes against 13 batters. Brandt Bashynski relieved Hautamaki, pitching one inning and allowing two runs. He threw nine strikes on the day. Victor Christianson came in to close for the V-Hawks, pitching the final two innings, allowing one run and one hit. Christianson faced 11 batters, throwing 16 strikes.

The V-Hawks will hit the road this weekend, heading to Indiana to compete against the Crimson Wave of Calumet. The team is slated for a pair of double-headers. On Friday and Saturday, the V-Hawks will begin action at 1PM.
