V-Hawks Drop Non-Conference Game on the Road
FOREST CITY, Iowa -- The V-Hawks traveled west to Iowa on Tuesday afternoon to face off against the Waldorf Warriors for a non-conference matchup. The V-Hawks fell to the Warriors 9-2 through nine innings of play. With the loss, the V-Hawks drop to 4-16 this season with a 3-8 CCAC record.
In the first and second innings, the V-Hawks were able to hold off Waldorf, not allowing any scoring. In the bottom of the third, the Warriors scored their first run, and in the bottom of the fourth they picked up two more. The V-Hawks returned with scoring of their own in the top of the seventh. Hunter Hess singled, advancing further on an error and running in Armani Camus and Dane Mediger. The Warriors then went on to score four runs in the bottom of the seventh and a final pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth.
At the plate. the V-Hawks wwere led by Hunter Hess. Hess had one hit on two at-bat appearances that led to the only two runs for the V-Hawks. Other hits on the day came from Xavier Gilmore, Nathan Faust, Dane Mediger, and Ashton Duvall. Ryan Mesa also had a sac in the game to advance a runner.
From the pitch, the V-Hawks worked through seven pitchers. Ryan Gordon pitched two innings, allowing zero hits or runs. Roberto Echevarria, Brandt Bashynski, Evan Laudenberg, Spencer Hautamaki, Michael Conroy, and Anthony Sanchez each pitched one inning for the V-Hawks. Both Laudenberg and Hautamaki allowed zero hits or runs as well.

The V-Hawks will be competing in their next conference series at St. Ambrose on Friday, March 27th and Saturday, March 28th. Both days will feature double-headers, with games beginning at 1PM on Friday and 12PM on Saturday.
