V-Hawks Complete Series on the Road
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The V-Hawks stopped in South Bend this weekend to face off against the Titans of Indiana South Bend. The teams had competed earlier in the season, but the final game of the season was postponed due to weather. This final game was completed on Sunday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The V-Hawks opened up scoring early when Carson Reinhardt doubled to run in Ryan Mesa in the first inning. In the second inning, the V-Hawks scored four more runs. Hunter Hess ran in Dane Mediger, while Xavier Gilmore ran in Matt Monaghan. Hunter Hess ran in on a passed ball, and Xavier Gilmore also made it home on a passed ball. The Titans responded in the third inning with four runs of their own. At this point, the game was suspended to be played at a later date.
The V-Hawks took to the field once again, resuming the game in the fourth inning. Armani Camus picked up a run early, running in Ryder Mortensen to take the 6-4 lead. The Titans responded with four runs of their own in the fourth. In the fifth, Eli Tucker picked up an RBI when he singled to run in Jake Ulbert. Their other run in the fifth inning came on a passed ball when Ryder Mortensen ran in. The game was tied at 8-8, but the Titans were able to score once more in the sixth to take the lead. In the top of the seventh, Jaden Vanderwiere singled to run in Derick Cossio. The Titans scored once more to finish the game, and the V-Hawks fell 10-9.
GAME LEADERS
The V-Hawks were led on the game by Eli Tucker, Jaden Vanderwiere, and Armani Camus. Each had two hits and one RBI in three at-bat appearances. Other hits on the game came from Xavier Gilmore, Caden Besemer, Carson Reinhardt, Dane Mediger, and Jake Ulbert. Carson Reinhardt also picked up an RBI for the V-Hawks.
In the circle, the V-Hawks started with Adam Olson. Olson allowed four runs and three hits. Nick Colker relieved Olson, pitching the rest of the third inning before the game was suspended. When they resumed, Roberto Echevarria took to the mound, allowing four runs and three hits. Spencer Hautamaki pitched one perfect inning. Aiden Murphy pitched the next two innings, allowing one run and three hits, and Brandon Shepherd finished the game, allowing one run and three hits.
