Craig Davis was a gifted soccer player who combined incredible speed and quickness with an undying competitive fire. 

"Maybe the best compliment I could give Craig is he was an outstanding leader who always played his best, especially in the biggest games," commented former coach, Bruce Erickson.  "Craig read the game as good as any player who donned a V-Hawk uniform during my time as head coach." 

Davis played defender his freshman and sophomore years on the team but then switched to midfielder for his final two seasons. The fact that he played defender his first two years makes his career stats of 18 goals, 16 assists, and 52 points even more impressive. 

For his efforts, Davis was named Second Team All-Conference his first season and earned First Team All-Conference honors his final three years.  Davis was also recognized nationally as he was named NAIA Honorable-Mention All-American after both the 1998-99 and 1999-00 seasons.

Craig's individual success carried over to team success as the V-Hawks won three conference championships and earned three consecutive NAIA Regional Tournament appearances during his four years as a player (1998-99, 1999-00, 2000-01).  During his time at Viterbo, the team compiled a remarkable 21-2 conference record and 46-24-4 overall record.

"Craig was truly a great team player," commented Erickson.  "He made everyone else around him better and excelled wherever we played him.  He was, flat out, a winner."
