Chad Miller - Head Coach - 5th Season

In August of 2005, following a Northwoods League (NWL) Championship and Field Manager of the Year award, Miller became the first Viterbo University Alum to be named Head Coach of the V-Hawk baseball team.

Miller is in his fifth season as the V-Hawks head coach and this past year he passed the 100 win milestone. Over the past three seasons, the V-Hawks have really started to make some noise as they have won 88 games and have finished top five of the very competitive Midwest Collegiate Conference. Last season, the V-Hawks finished 27-21 overall, 11-11 in conference play, and qualified for the MCC Tournament.

Miller finished his playing career in a V-Hawk uniform as a two way player and threw a no-hitter against Martin Luther College during his senior season. Miller was also a member of the 2002 V-Hawk regional runner-up team that advanced farther in the postseason than any previous V-Hawk baseball team.

After finishing his playing career, Miller spent three seasons as the V-Hawk hitting coach and recruiting coordinator. During his time as the hitting coach, the V-Hawks broke six single season records and six all-time records including single season team record for wins. Miller's coaching experience also includes time as the pitching coach at his alma mater Sparta High School as well as at Aquinas High School in La Crosse.

Miller proved his headcoaching capabilities in 2005 with the Thunder Bay Border Cats of the Northwoods Collegiate League. The Border Cats were picked to finish last during the preseason and silenced critics by finishing the season with the best overall record at 44-24. The Border Cats capped their most successful season in franchise history by defeating the defending champion Madison Mallards in the NWL Championship Series. Miller also spent time as an assistant in the NWL with playoff teams; the La Crosse Loggers and the Alexandria Beetles.During his three years in the NWL, Miller coached 31 players who went on to play professional baseball including two first round draft picks; Max Scherzer 2006 (Arizona Diamondbacks) and Matt Mangini 2007 (Seattle Mariners)

A native of Sparta, Wisconsin, Miller graduated from Sparta High School and started his college playing career at Des Moines Area Community College in Boone, Iowa where he was an Iowa Junior College All-Star. Miller then continued on to the University of Florida where he earned a roster spot on the 1996 Florida Gator baseball team which advanced to the NCAA College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska and finished third in the nation. As a player, Miller was a teammate of David Eckstein (Toronto Blue Jays), Brad Wilkerson (Texas Rangers), Josh Fogg (Cincinnati Reds),Mark Ellis (Oakland A's), and Corey Koskie (Milwaukee Brewers).

Miller received his Bachelor's Degree from Viterbo in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing Management and earned a Master's Degree in Sports Administration from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. In addition to his coaching duties, Miller serves as the Director of the Viterbo Outdoor Athletic Complex.

Miller and his wife Jessica residents of La Crosse, WI, have a five year old son, Callen, and recently had a baby girl, Braelyn.
