SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

  • Katie Parins (52, FR) capped her 2nd and 3rd collegiate contests by securing All-Tournament Team honors at the Dakota State Tournament. She had 19 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks for the tournament.
  • November 27th, the V-Hawks defeated the Titans of UW-Oshkosh (then ranked 3rd in the nation) to win the UW-Oshkosh Holiday Tournament. Viterbo's win snapped UW-Oshkosh's 27 game home winning streak. Sandy Christoffel (22, JR), Ellie Junker (14, JR), and Heidi Behnke (34, SO) were named to the All-Tournament Team with Behnke also taking the Tournament MVP.
  • Sarah Olson (24, SR) earned a place on the Clarke Holiday Tournament All-Tournament Team.
  • December 3rd, Kara Brandau (55, SO) scored 21 points and grabbed 5 rebounds versus St. Scholastica. Her game high 21 included a last second shot to seal the Viterbo win.
  • December 11th, Viterbo paid a visit to 20th ranked Cardinal Stritch and handed them a 65-60 loss.
  • Heidi Behnke (34, SO) was named the Midwest Classic Conference Player of the Week for January 17-23. Heidi's 39 points, 24 rebounds, 10 assists, and 5 blocked shots powered the V-Hawks to wins over conference opponents Iowa Wesleyan College and Grand View College.
  • January 26th, Heidi Corley (42, JR) marked her return from a severe knee injury to score her first points of the 1999-2000 with a "3" against Mount St. Clare College.
  • January 22nd, Viterbo put together one of its best all around performances and pounded the Grand View College Vikings by 29 points. Grand View was undefeated in conference play at the time just coming off of a win against St. Ambrose.
  • February 2nd, Michelle Bagnall (33, FR) scored a career- high 15 points and took in 5 rebounds to power Viterbo past Silver Lake.
  • February 5th, Sandy Christoffel (22, JR) drew a charge from Mt. Mercy guard Amanda Marshall to deny a game-tying basket and seal Viterbo's 68-66 victory.
  • February 24th, the V-Hawks defeated the Grand View College Vikings for the third time this season (winning twice on the Vikings home floor) to move into their first ever MCC Conference Tournament Championship Game.
  • Viterbo's Heidi Behnke was named to the MCC All-Conference Team. This coming one year after the knee injury that sidelined her all of last season. Senior Sarah Olson and sophomore Kara Brandau were given MCC All-Conference Honorable Mention status.
  • The V-Hawks closed their season with 21-13 overall record and an 8-4 conference record.
