Today we woke up to the delicious smells of the continental breakfast at the hotel. It was by far the best breakfast that we have ever had at a hotel. There was a station where you could make your own omelets and pancakes made to order. Then it was off to Azusa Pacific to ref the 10 o'clock match.
After refereeing, we prepared ourselves to play the 9th ranked team in the nation, Azusa Pacific themselves. With a rough start and a rough finish, we came up short of a win. In the end, we learned a lot from the game because we don't see teams like Azusa every day. We are glad we are privileged enough to compete with these California teams.
The second game of the day started out with a bang. We came out with a lot of intensity in the first two sets of the match. In the third game, Hope International came ready to fight and won the third and fourth game. After defeating ourselves in the fourth game we decided that either we could just let the other team beat us or we could start looking like what Viterbo Volleyball is all about. We opted to take the second route and wiped the floor with Hope International 15-4 in the fifth game. Which made for a great end to the day. Overall, we were successful in learning how to play with very talented teams.
