After taking our first loss of the season to the fourteenth ranked team we started off August 19th with a new perspective. We had marvelous muffins in San Diego for breakfast which were in fact marvelous. Then we loaded up and headed out to Azusa Pacific University. The trip took about an 2 and a half hours. We drove through L.A. where there were 16 photo lanes of traffic. It was tough to keep the three vans, SUV, and PT cruiser near each other. After coming up to stand-still traffic going 75 mph we survived not crashing into each other. We saw lots of landscape that seemed to be pretty dry and mountainous along the way. Even drove past the "The Angels" major league baseball field in Anaheim.
After the long journey we finally reached our destination of Azusa Pacific University. Our first match was against Holy Names College. We went through our warm up not looking too good. We found ourselves not being intense, having a loss of focus, and not connecting with each other. After warm-ups we brought it in and talked to each other on how we needed to pick up our game if we were going to go in to this game and do well. We ended up finishing that match againstHoly Names with a 3-1 win. We played our next match against San Diego Christianshortly after. We truly wish we could describe the excitement Viterbo Volleyball brought to the next match. We finished the match 3-0 and were very proud of the way we played. Of course we are all mentally and physically drained but are ready to go for two more matches tomorrow.
Things are looking good for the Viterbo V-hawks. We hope to stay "hungry" for more victories and progress.
