Day 2
Volleyball Team Travels to California
Day 2 by Amanda Bernett and Erica Willadsen
August 18, 2010

The Viterbo Volleyball team was filled with mixed emotions as we entered our first game of the season at Point Loma University. We were very anxious to finally play someone other than ourselves for a change, and welcomed the challenge of playing a top team in the nation. In the end, we didn't come out on the winning side, but we all agreed that we competed well with a lot of intense energy throughout the match. We had a lot of firsts this game, as three of our freshman got their first kill, block, and/or dig of their college career. Our team didn't seem to have any problem playing together, and by the time the match was over, we felt a stronger bond and feel ready to take on our next competition.

After the high intensity volleyball match was done we were all excited to visit our next destination, The San Diego Zoo! This zoo is said to be one of the top zoo's in the nation, and was proved when each girl was fascinated by each animal they saw, including the panda bear, which can only be found at The San Diego Zoo and in Germany. We all enjoyed the aerial view of the zoo from the skytram, and the wonderful bus tours provided by the zoo.

After a fine time at the zoo, we were all ready for some chow. So we loaded up into our vans and attempted to travel to Hard Rock Café without losing any part of our caravan (aka Phil's van). With the traffic filled streets, and the different colored curbs, (red instead of yellow) we finally found a large parking ramp where we found out how expensive it was to park in California. We had a very interesting waitress that looked somewhat like Gwen Stefani, and acted like she had had too much sun, but she was a lot of fun. After a fulfilling meal and some souvenir glasses, we headed back to the parking ramp where we were forced to find our way back to our hotel, somehow. Overall, this has only been the second day of our trip, and we have already experienced so much, we cannot wait for what else is in store for us.

Til Tomorrow,

Love Erica and Bernie!
