
Ken Barrett enters his fourth season as the V-Hawks head women's golf coach and assistant men's basketball coach. During the third season of women's golf at Viterbo University, the V-Hawks saw plenty of improvement from its first two seasons. The V-Hawks improved from a sixth place finish at the MCC Championships in 2008 to a third place finish in 2009 to a second place finish in 2010. At the 2010 MCC Championships, the V-Hawks had two freshman finish fourth and ninth overall. The V-Hawks also had seven top three finishes at tournaments including winning the Viterbo Invitational and the Clarke College Invitational.
Barrett joined the V-Hawks in 2007 while enjoying retirement (2005) from the La Crosse School district. Barrett spent 34 years teaching math including the final 30 years at La Crosse Central High School. While teaching, Barrett also enjoyed opportunities coaching boy's basketball and girl's golf. In 1997, Barrett took over a storied girl's golf program and helped continue a tradition. He led the Raiders to six state tournament appearances in nine seasons as the head coach including a state championship in 1998. He also coached four girls that went on to play golf at the college level.
Barrett also found success on the basketball court as he coached the Raiders boy's basketball team for 22 years. During his time as basketball coach, Barrett led the Raiders to 2 state tournament appearances including a state runner-up position in 1979. For his accomplishments on the court, Barrett was inducted into the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2005.
Barrett graduated from UW-La Crosse with a history/mathematics degree. He is a member at The Golf Club at Cedar Creek. Ken and his wife Mary have three children who are all educators. Their son Korey is a music professor at the University of Northern Iowa, while their daughter Jamie is a math teacher at Bangor Middle School, and their other daughter, Sarahis a special education teacher at Cashton.
Zucco joins the V-Hawk program after spending eight seasons as the head softball coach at Bangor High School. Zucco is also entering her eleventh year as a middle school English teacher in Bangor.
An advid golfer, Zucco played collegiately from 1995-1997 for the Blugolds at UW-Eau Claire. In 1999, Zucco graduated with her education degree from UWEC. She then went onto earn her masters degree from UW-La Crosse in 2004. Zucco resides in West Salem, Wis. and considers Sparta Golf Course her home course.
