
Saint Bonifacius, Minn. - Juniors Sandy Gebhart (Chilton, Wis.), Amanda McCarthy (Eleva, Wis.), and Jessica Pacholski (Woodridge, Ill.) finished ninth, twelfth and fifteenth overall at Saturday's Crown College Storm Invitational to lead the V-Hawk's to a second place finish out of six teams. The women's 6 kilometer race was contested on trails surrounding the campus of Crown College.
Also scoring for the V-Hawks, were sophomores Ellie Walch (Zumbrota, Minn.) and Ashley Bright (Abbottsford, Wis.) who finished in 24th and 25th in the 52 runner field.
As a team, Viterbo scored 78 points, behind St. Catherine's 16 points, but ahead of Martin Luther, Bethany Lutheran, Northland and Crown. Viterbo's 78 points were two better than third place Martin Luther College. As a team, the V-Hawks had seven finishes before Martin Luther's fifth runner finished the race.
"It was a great morning for a race, and our team impressed me," said head coach John Metelko. "This was a challenging course and our women all gave strong efforts."
The V-Hawks will return to the trails Friday, September 21st when they compete in the Blugold Invitation hosted by UW-Eau Claire at Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax, Wisconsin.
