La Crosse, Wis. – The Midwest Collegiate Conference recently announced the 2011-12 Academic All-Conference teams for each sport and 106 student-athletes from Viterbo University were recognized. To be named to the MCC Academic All-Conference team a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher and have been a student at Viterbo for two consecutive semesters.
The V-Hawk women's soccer team led the way with 14 student-athletes being recognized while the softball team was next with 12 student-athletes. Coming in next with 11 student-athletes was women's basketball while volleyball, men's soccer, and women's cross country each had nine. (A list of all 106 student-athletes is below)
Viterbo spring sports (softball, golf, and track and field) also had 11 student-athletes receive high academic honors from the NAIA. These 11 student-athletes were named NAIA scholar athletes for being at least a junior and having a 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA. This year's list includes: Lizzie Bless (Sr. – River Falls, Wis.) (soccer) Rhianna Nichols (Sr. – Tomah, Wis.) (golf), Dani Stark (Jr. – Prairie du Chien, Wis.) (Track and Field), Melissa Weaver (Sr. – Trempealeau, Wis.) (softball) and Sami Weaver (Jr. – Trempealeau, Wis.) (softball).
