
Euless, Texas – Two members of the Viterbo University Bowling Teams have qualified for the USBC Singles Championships which will be held in April. Rachel Schalow(Jr. – Marshfield, Wis.) is one of 16 women who qualified in four regional competitions. Matt Krueger (Jr. – Green Bay, Wis.) is one of 24 men who qualified.
Schalow captured the fourth and final spot in the Euless, TX regional, striking out in the 10th frame of her sixth game to earn the spot by 11 pins. Schalow's six game total of 1273 (212 average) included a high game of 243. The V-Hawk junior co-captain has been named MCC all-conference the past two seasons.
Krueger continued his recent hot streak taking the individual lead into the final game. Though things got interesting after his last game of 166, Krueger made it through with 27 pins to spare. Overall, he finished in fourth place. Krueger's six-game total was 1327 (average 221). Krueger displayed incredible consistency in his first five games, posting scores of 244, 233, 224, 225 and 235.
Schalow and Krueger become the first ever V-Hawk bowlers to qualify for the USBC Championships and will compete at the USBC Collegiate Singles event April 17 and April 21 at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln, Nebraska. Hopefully, they'll be joined by their teammates at the Team Championships that same week. The Viterbo men and women's teams are bowling in the USBC Team Sectionals in Euless, TX. The top four teams in each of the four sectionals will advance to the Team Championships in Lincoln, Nebraska April 19-21.
