
La Crosse, Wis. – Viterbo University women's soccer head coach, Scott Pirnstill, announced the beginning of his 2012 recruiting class. Coach Pirnstill welcomes nine new recruits that spans across four Midwest states.
"The 2012 class will add a new dynamic to our squad for the upcoming season," commented Coach Pirnstill. "We really looked to add student athletes with quality and experience. Several of the recruits have high level club experience in the MRL, and Olympic Development Programs. This recruiting class will also open up the door for more offensive options in the 2012 season."
This year's class includes: Forward Marcella Albuquerque (Lake South, Ill, Sockers FC Chicago), Defensemen Samantha Duerr (Medford, Wis.), Forward Molly Machometa (McHenry, Ill./ McHenry Vipers), Forward Kelly Manzko (Huntley, Ill./ Crystal Lake Force), Midfielder Kelly Melhorn (Rochester, Minn./ Euro Futball Club), Midfielder Courtney Morgan (Appleton, Wis./ Appleton North/ASC-FC Green Bay), Midfielder Kallie Reinke (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./ Wisconsin Rapids Kickers/), Midfielder Jennifer Schlimgen (West Salem, Wis.), GK Alicia Seachord (Lincoln, Neb./CSA-Ambush).
"The academic distinction and the quality programs Viterbo offers greatly contributed to the success we have recruiting across the region," said Pirnstill.
The 2012 class will add depth to the already experienced freshman and sophomore class that returns for the V-Hawks. The lady V-Hawks loose only one Senior this year to graduation.
Molly Machometa- McHenry, Ill. (Forward)
Viterbo University Women's Soccer Head Coach Scott Pirnstill announced today that Molly Machometa (McHenry, Ill.) has signed a letter of intent to play for the V-Hawks in 2012.
Coach Pirnstill had this to say about Machometa, "Molly is a force multiplier when she is on the field. Molly is lightning fast and she is a natural goal scorer. She is always working hard and fearless when she goes in on challenges. Molly is particularly a threat in 1vs.1 situations and in space behind the defensive line. She will have an immediate impact in the MCC this season."
Machometa joins the V-Hawks as a four year starter and letter winner for McHenry West Campus, the Warriors. Machometa was also a captain her sophomore year, All-Conference for two years, and all sectional one year. She helped the Warriors in her first three years by contributing 64 goals. Machometa also set the school record with 47 goals in a season. She has not only contributed to team success, but also to her school as she is a member of National Honor Society, Year Book, and Student Council. In March 2012, Machometa will be traveling to England with her club soccer team, McHenry Vipers, to watch professional English soccer.
When asked why she chose Viterbo, Machometa had this to say; "I chose Viterbo because of the state of the art nursing building, the great ratio between the faculty and students, and the beauty of the campus and the La Crosse area. I looked at many campuses and was always brought back to Viterbo. I am excited to play for the women's soccer program and how everyone at Viterbo is very friendly and outgoing and I want to be a part of that."
Machometa will pursue a degree in Nursing.
Kelly Manzko- Huntley, Ill(Forward)
Viterbo University Women's Soccer Head Coach Scott Pirnstill announced today that Kelly Manzko (Huntley, Ill.) has signed a letter of intent to play for the V-Hawks in 2012.
Coach Pirnstill had this to say about Manzko, "Kelly is a very versatile player. She has excellent strength, speed, and skill. Between her high school and club team, I have seen her play just about every position and she plays them all exceptionally well. Kelly brings a lot of high level experience from her club soccer with the Crystal Lake Force and Huntley High School."
Manczko will join the V-Hawk soccer program after being a three-year starter at Huntley High School. As a junior, Manczko scored 8 goals and assisted on another 10 goals for her high school team. A forward, Manczko has also played club soccer at a very high level as she plays for the Crystal Lake Force. Manczko will join some former teammates at Viterbo as she played high school soccer with current V-Hawks Bre Burry and Julie Brownell. She also played club soccer with current V-Hawk Jamie Kohl.
When asked why she chose Viterbo, Manzko had this to say;"One reason why I chose Viterbo is because of the campus. I like where it is located and it is beautiful. Also, it seems easy to get around and find my classes easily. Another reason why I chose Viterbo is because I believe that I could make a great impact on the soccer team and help out where ever needed! I'm super excited and can't wait to be a part of the team next year!"
Kelly Melhorn- Rochester, Minn. (Midfield)
Viterbo University Women's Soccer Head Coach Scott Pirnstill announced today that Kelly Melhorn (Mankato, Minn.) has signed a letter of intent to play for the V-Hawks in 2012.
Coach Pirnstill had this to say about Melhorn,"Kelly is a quick outside player with a lot of skill. She is very technical and is not afraid to take players on 1v1. She has a lot of drive and determination and is a hard worker on the field."
Melhorn joins the V-Hawks as a one year starter and two time letter winner for Lourdes High School in Rochester, Minn. Melhorn was named to the all-conference team her senior year. She also, played club soccer with Euro Futball Club for four years. She helped her team to victory in the USA Cup in 2009 and 2011. Melhorn was also very active with school and the community while being involved in Students Against Destructive Decisions, Service Club, and Church.
Mellhorn will pursue a degree in Dietetics.
Courtney Morgan- Appleton, Wis. (Midfield/Forward)
Viterbo University Women's Soccer Head Coach Scott Pirnstill announced today that Courtney Morgan (Appleton, Wis.) has signed a letter of intent to play for the V-Hawks in 2012.
Coach Pirnstill had this to say about Morgan, "Courtney is a fantastic all around soccer player, who is very smart and brings a lot of skill to the game. She makes excellent decisions during the game under pressure. I saw her score 2 great goals in the state cup final, which her team went on to win. Her 2011 high school team went undefeated the entire year and won the state tittle, and her club team won the state cup. She knows what it takes to win, and that mentality will be huge for our program."
Morgan joins the V-Hawks as a three year letter winner and two year starter for Appleton North High School, the Lightning. Morgan helped lead her team to the 2011 WIAA state title. She also, played club soccer at a high level as her team won the 2011 state cup. Morgan was also an elite volleyball player and a captain her junior and senior years. She was also very active in academics with being a member of National Honor Society and Student Council.
When asked why she chose Viterbo, Morgan had this to say; "I chose to come to Viterbo University because I have an interest in pursuing a career in Nursing and wanted to be able to play soccer. Viterbo gave me the best opportunity to do both successfully. I also liked that it is a Catholic University."
Morgan will pursue a degree in Nursing.
Alicia Seachord - Lincoln, Nebraska (Goalkeeper)
Viterbo University Women's Soccer Head Coach Scott Pirnstill announced today that Alicia Seachord (Lincoln, Neb.) has signed a letter of intent to play for the V-Hawks in 2012.
Coach Pirnstill had this to say about Seachord," Alicia is a very athletic goalkeeper. Due to player demands, she plays forward on her high school team and was second in goals on her team last season. That says a lot about a player's overall talent when your primary position is goalkeeper. Alicia brings much to the table due to the goal keeping experience she has had at the State Cup level as well as her success in the Olympic Development Program. She wants to win and that is the type of player we are looking to recruit for our program."
Seachord plays high school soccer for the Lincoln East Spartans, where she has been a 3 year letter winner, with a season in hand. During that time she has earned the academic award 2008-09, and was voted all conference in 2010-11. Last season as a Forward/Goalkeeper she scored 11 goals and had 3 assists. She also recorded 2 shutouts, 45 saves, and 5 goals against. Seachordheads into her senior season this year as one of the captains for the Spartans. Seachord played club soccer for the CSA-Ambush. During her 5 year stint the team recorded 2 state cup championships and was runner up 3 times. Seachord's greatest experience comes from her time in the Olympic Development Program where she played for the Nebraska state team. She was the starting goalkeeper for the squad in 2008, 2009, and 2010. Her team competed in the 2009 and 2010 La Vegas Mayor's Cup where she was identified and invited to the Region II ODP camp in 2009 and 2010.
When asked why she chose Viterbo, Seachord had this to say;"I chose Viterbo because I feel they have the best dietetics program out of my other college options. The new School of Nursing building is quite impressive and will be very beneficial to my education. It was a struggle trying to find a college where I could play soccer and major in dietetics. Fortunately, Coach Pirnstill was able to find that match for me at Viterbo."
Seachord will pursue a degree in Dietetics.
