La Crosse, Wis. - Viterbo University women's cross country runner and thee time letter winner Cindy Leuck (Jr. - Cashton, Wis.) was named a 2010 Daktronics-NAIA Cross Country Scholar-Athlete. In order to qualify for this recognition, nominated student-athletes must have a minimum 3.5 grade point average on a four point scale and have junior or senior academic standing.

Leuck, a Nutrition and Dietetics major has performed well both in the classroom and on the cross country course. Leuck earned honorable mention all-conference honors for her 14th place finish at the Midwest Collegiate Conference Championship, and she is coming off her first ever NAIA National Championship where she finished 261st out of 331 runners in 21:05 for the 5 kilometer race.

"Cindy Leuck is one of the hardest working students I know," said Head Coach John Metelko. "Her willingness to do the little things necessary to be successful not only helps her, but makes everyone else around her better."

A top seven runner for the V-Hawk's during most of the season, Leuck finished fifth on her team at the Lake Wissota Invitational, the Midwest Collegiate Conference Championships, and at the NAIA Championships. Her time of 20:25 for 5 kilometers at the Lake Wissota Invitational this October propelled her to seventh place all-time on the list of fastest women's cross country runners at Viterbo.
