Minneapolis, Minn. - The Viterbo University Men's and Women's bowling teams are three events into the 2010-11 season. The V-Hawk men and women competed in the University of Minnesota Invite over the weekend.

On the men's side, the Viterbo Cardinal team finished fourth out of 17 teams while the V-Hawk Silver team finished in 15th place. Viterbo Cardinal was third after Saturday's individual block of games. Freshman T.J. York (Embden, Maine) continued his impressive early-season run, leading Viterbo with an average of 210 over six games. Greg Pizl (So. - Antigo, Wis.) averaged 206, followed by Rob Warren (Fr. - Antigo, Wis.) with a 202, Jade Lucas (So. - Marshfield, Wis.) 200 and Matt Krueger (So. - Green Bay, Wis.) 191. Viterbo bowled well in Sunday's Baker format, before slipping one spot to fourth place.

"The guys were good all weekend," said V-Hawks head coach Jim Socha. "When this group gets it going, they're pretty fun to watch." During one stretch, Viterbo strung together 16 straight strikes on Saturday.

The V-Hawk Silver team was led by Chris Fish (Fr. - West Salem, Wis.) with a 192 average. Tony Berg (So. - West Salem, Wis.) averaged 186. Next was Jordan Kerska (So. - Sparta, Wis.) at 176, Shawn Keenan (So. - Embden, Maine) at 174 and Ian Kyte (So. - La Crosse, Wis.) at 172.

The V-Hawk women were led by Megan Jirsa (So. - La Crosse, Wis.) and Rachel Schalow (So. - Marshfield, Wis.). Both women averaged 176 on Saturday. Chelsie Kraus (Fr. - Onalaska, Wis.) was next at 165, followed by Nikki Emberson (So. - Dekalb, Ill.) at 160, Kendra Bundy (So. - Tomah, Wis.) 158, Marsita Pizl (Fr. - Antigo, Wis.) 156, Amanda Gill (Fr. - Rockton, Ill.) 154 and Sam Willingmyre (So. - Gurnee, Ill.) at 151.

The V-Hawks moved up to third place after 28 Baker games on Sunday."After Schalow, Bundy and Jirsa the rest of the team isusually really pretty close," said Socha."We've been getting some nice contributions off the bench."

Next action for the V-Hawk bowling teams is November 20-21 at the Titan Invitational in Oshkosh, Wis.
