La Crosse, Wis. - Viterbo University women's soccer freshman Steph Wisen (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) was named Midwest Collegiate Conference Newcomer of the Year announced today by MCC sports information director Adam Glatczak. Wisen was also named to the MCC All-Conference First Team while Anastasia Jensen (Sr. - Anoka, Minn.) and Jamie Kohl (Fr. - Cary, Ill.) received MCC Honorable Mention All-Conference honors.

Wisen was a scoring machine for the V-Hawks as she finished with a MCC best 20 goals. She also assisted on another eight goals which gave her a total of 48 points, ranking her second in the MCC in total points. Wisen's stat totals also had her ranked nationally in goals (11th) and points (11th). She scored at least one point in 15 of the V-Hawks 17 games this season including the final 14 straight games. Wisen also put herself in the record books as her 20 goals and 48 points ranks third on the single season record list.

"I am happy for our team for Steph's accomplishment," said Viterbo Head Coach Scott Pirnstill. "The team did a great job creating opportunities and Steph always took care of the rest. She was unquestionably the best and most consistent finisher in the league this year."

This is the second straight season that Jensen has been recognized by the conference as she was named Honorable Mention All-Conference last season. Jensen played in all 17 games this season for the V-Hawks starting 15 of them. She finished with two goals and five assists on the season. The lone senior on the roster, Jensen battled injuries throughout the season but continually made an impact both offensively and defensively for the V-Hawks.

Kohl stepped in right away for the V-Hawks and played an integral part of the V-Hawk defense. Kohl started all 15 games this season for the V-Hawks and would have played every game if it would not have been for suffering an injury that kept her out two games. She did score one goal from her defensive position.

As a team, the V-Hawks finished the regular season 8-9 overall and 5-3 in MCC action. The V-Hawks graduate just Jensen and although she will be missed, coach Pirnstill is excited for he has coming back next season. The V-Hawks will return their top four scorers from this season as well as goalie Carley Esser (Fr. - Oconomowoc, Wis.).
