La Crosse, Wis. - Viterbo University men's basketball coach Wayne Wagner announced today the signing of two top notch student-athletes for the 2010-2011 season. Alex Brooks (Stoughton, Wis.) and Alex Diciaula (Brookfield, Wis.) have signed letters of intent to play for the V-Hawks this fall.
Viterbo University men's basketball coach Wayne Wagner announced today that Alex Brooks (Stoughton, Wis.), a 6'7" post, has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for the V-Hawks in 2010-2011.
"Alex is a player that fits in with our program very well," commented Coach Wagner."In particular, he fills a great need for us in the interior positions. For a young post player, Alex has a great foundation for the position. At 6'7 he already has good size and decent strength and will continue to grow in those areas, but the real positives we see with Alex as a post player with great potential is that he has great feet and a real aggressive approach to the game. That should translate well into his future at the college level."
Brooks comes to Viterbo University after playing his high school career at Stoughton High School where he was a three sport athlete for four years. A three year letter winner for the Vikings, Brooks was his team's leading rebounder and averaged 6.8 points per game. One of Brook's top performances came against DeForest High School where he scored a career high 27 points. Brook's also found success as a member of the Viking's cross country team as well as the tennis team. He will pursue a degree in nursing during his time at Viterbo University.
"It has been a pleasure getting to know Alex and his family during the recruiting process," stated Coach Wagner. "His character and leadership qualities will certainly help him reach his potential in a number of areas on and off of the floor here at Viterbo."
Viterbo University men's basketball coach Wayne Wagner announced today that Alex Diciaula (Brookfield, Wis.), a 6'0" guard, has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for the V-Hawks in 2010-2011.
"We are very excited to have an individual of Alex's character and abilities joining us here at Viterbo University," commented Coach Wagner. "In getting to know him and his family better throughout the recruiting process, it was clear to see that Alex is a fine young man that is not only an exceptional person and student off of the floor, but he has shown tremendous ability as a player and a leader on the basketball floor."
Diciaula comes to Viterbo after playing basketball and football for Brookfield Central High School. Dicialua had a stellar senior season on the basketball court as he was named first team all-conference as well as first team all-suburban and honorable mention all-area. A consistent scorer, Diciaula led the very competitive Greater Metro conference by averaging 19.4 points per game. In fact he scored in double figures in all but one of the Lancers 25 games this season and scored more than 25 points six times this season. He has also been selected as an alternate for the Wisconsin Basketball Coach Association All-Star game.
"The transformation that Alex has made as an athlete over the last year has been incredible," stated Coach Wagner. His efforts and attitude helped translate into great success for Alex and Coach Adams' Brookfield Central team this past season.Together, Alex, as the only senior on the team, and Coach Adams' did a great job of bringing together a real solid young team at Central. Alex's abilities as a shooter, quality ball-handler, passer, and gritty defender will project well in his transition to the college game. We love his versatility, toughness, and leadership qualities and look forward to working with him in the future."
The Diciaula name may sound familiar to V-Hawk fans as Alex's older brother Tad was a first team all-conference player for the V-Hawk men's soccer team in the late 90's. Tad was a part of a V-Hawk soccer team that won three Midwest Collegiate (Classic) Conference championships. A standout student as well, Diciaula will look to pursue a degree in Viterbo's new Sports Science and Leadership program.
