La Crosse, Wis. - Howard Heinrich (Jr. - Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) was named the Midwest Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday for his performance on the mound over this past week.
Heinrich went 2-0 last week as he helped lead the V-Hawks to victories over Clarke College and William Penn University. Heinrich combined to give up just three earned runs over his two appearances while he struck out 13 batters.
Heinrich came in as a reliever in the game against Clarke as he only allowed one hit in his five innings of work helping the V-Hawks secure a 4-1 victory. His second win of the week came on Sunday as he tossed a complete game against William Penn where he struck out eight Statesmen batters on way to a 9-3 win for the V-Hawks.
Heinrich and the rest of the V-Hawks will return to action on Thursday as Viterbo takes on UW- La Crosse in the annual Copeland Cup game. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 at Copeland Park.
