
La Crosse, Wis. - The Viterbo University Men's golf team battled to a third place finish at the Midwest Collegiate Conference Championship on Friday and Saturday. Grand View University won the conference title with St. Ambrose University finishing second.
The V-Hawks were just six shots off the pace after an opening round team total of 298. But Grand View and St. Ambrose pulled away in rounds two and three.
V-Hawk junior Derrick Meier (Chilton, Wis.) led Viterbo shooting 67, 79, and 73 for a total of 219. That was good for a sixth place finish individually. Jason Jorgensen (So. - Onalaska, Wis.) posted scores of 75,73,79 for a 227 total. Shawn Keenan (Fr. - Embden, Maine) was next with 79, 75, and 74 for a 228 total.Jordan Kerska's (Fr. - Sparta, Wis.) 229 total included scores of 77, 73, and 79. Adam Dickinson (So. - Edgerton, Wis.) finished with 78, 80, and 81 for a 239 total.
"I'm proud of the guys. Third place in a very solid conference mean's we're not that far away from where we want to be," said V-Hawks head coach Jim Socha. "This group is willing to work hard to take the next step."
