
La Crosse, Wis. - Viterbo University student athlete Eli Tupuola (Sr. - San Diego, Calif.) was named the Midwest Collegiate Conference Baseball Player of the Week. During the week Tupuola helped lead Viterbo to a 4-2 record as the V-Hawks are now tied for second in the MCC.
This past week Tupuola went 14-for-22 with two home runs and six RBI as they V-Hawks took two out of three against both Waldorf College and Iowa Wesleyan College. Tupuola's best performance came in the series finale against Iowa Wesleyan when he went 5-for-5 with two RBI despite being defeated 11-10.
Tupuola is currently on a seven-game hitting streak which dates back to April 1, when the V-Hawks faced Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. Tupuola currently holds a .343 batting average with five home runs and 20 RBI on the season. He also has the most hits on the team (35) and has shown great discipline at the plate as he has struck out just five times in 102 at-bats.
Tupuola and the rest of the V-Hawks will next be in action this weekend as they travel to Cedar Rapids, Iowa for a three-game series against Mount Mercy College.
