La Crosse, Wis. - It was another strong showing for the Viterbo men's golf team over the weekend. The V-Hawks finished second in the 11-team Ripon Invitational held at the historic Lawsonia Links Course in Green Lake, Wisconsin. Viterbo actually entered two teams in the event, with Viterbo Cardinal taking second and Viterbo White finishing in fifth place.

Derrick Meier (Jr. - Chilton, Wis.) was the meet co-medalist shooting 74-73 for a total of 3 over par 147."Derrick has been great so far this spring," said Viterbo Head Coach Jim Socha. "No matter how he's striking the ball, he finds a way to post a very good score." Shawn Keenan (Fr. - Embden, Maine)) turned in a couple of 77's over the weekend and sophomore Josh Kohnhorst (Tomah, Wis.) fired a season-low 73 on Saturday for the V-Hawks.Unfortunately, Kohnhorst had to withdraw from competition Sunday after injuring his wrist."It's a tough break for Josh," saidSocha. "He's really an up-and-coming player for us."

Next action for the V-Hawks is the MCC Championship April 16 and 17 at Otter Creek Golf Club in Des Moines, Iowa. The winning team will advance to the NAIANationalTournament in May. "If we play well, we can contend," said Meier.
